I like that: “Get an answer before you move on.”
When I was in a creek, I saw a lot of little minnows, I mean trout magnet size minnows. Would that be the size the baitfish are out in deeper water also, or would the deeper water schools I see on sonar be bigger minnow or shad?

you should tip your presentation with a red wiggler if you can find the sunfush . I would look around concrete if I wanted to ketch winter bream on a larger lake . they often get on the bottom around the bridge columns in deep water with the other panfish from what I have seen on larger lakes this time of year.
and to be sure deep docks seem to always have some , I do know they wont chase a bait like they will other times of the year and want it pretty darn still or barely moving .
    my 2 cents

Thanks Ketchin. But what if the bottom is 30 or 40 feet, will they go that deep?

yes sir I know they will hit 30 range ,40 I aint sure about ,but 25 or 30 down on the bridge columns in 40 might happen
they will likely be real light peck bites in the winter and might be right near the bottom in 25 or so foot of water on cover
