    Default Left them biting @ LP 10 03 19

Went back out with some small crickets. The better fish seem to prefer them over the meal worms. Made the mistake of taking my 3 dogs to the vet yesterday afternoon, for checkups and shots, at the same time. NEVER again!! All these fish are still in the pond.

Just the fish. I have a Great Dane, a German Shepherd, abd and a miniature Bulldog. No fear of dogs

It looks like the lower water and temp is not affecting the bite too much. I've always done better with crickets than mealworms when I've fished straight bait on a dropshot. I don't know how you can do that with 3 big dogs. I can barely handle doing it with 2!

Nice catch once again, and a good comparison to the meal worm fish and cricket fish. Maybe try both on same day, same jigs just on different rods to prove said hypothesis of better fish preferences? I fished with an old farm boy who would dig red worms from his barn lot and bring them along on our Gill forays. I would out fish him 2-1 using crickets, and size was even more lopsided; seems like the smaller Gills preferred the leg less offerings .

Oh this makes me so happy I had to work today!! Very nice fish, once again. Got the boat back yesterday afternoon so maybe this weekend between ball games and birthday parties with the grandkids.

Jack - Got 3 German Shepherds, the 2 girls have to go on diet...
Jeff - They dropped the water on a spawn and there's some fish that are still trying - water temp is ~74* F and the water is down 14'. Looking for baitfish and hatches. Bigger fish are coming later which is weird considering the high bright sun and the water clarity. Might be exposing the baitfish....
Stan - I have more confidence with crickets and use them more than meals worms. The mealworms probably troll better, at faster speeds. Seems like smaller fish like the MWs or they are quicker at getting to them.
    Hoping you get out Tim.
