    Default Recalculating @ LP 09 28 19

Went out with Perris Blue yesterday and ran into a wall - for big fish. Wind was up - level dropped again - cold front moving in - all the good excuses.. We managed a bunch in the 9" slot with only one making the 10.5" mark. Used a Master Craft Finetail to land the fish - was not easy - this rod is not recommended for this area. We have to much submerged brush and trees and you really have to get control of the fish in a hurry. Had the rod almost bent in a U to get the fish up and out of a brush pile.
Lake level is still falling - drastically - @ dock was 48.8' (full pool) now 35' - lake surface temp is dropping too, ~75*F now.

Anyway, today me and Tu started at the east end with a little bit better results than me and Jeff got. The submerged structure became a "REEL" problem with hooked fish diving into it and breaking off. So we decided to move and stumbled into some very nice fish (follow the birds). Most of the big, purple, males are in the 10" to 11" range - CPR.

Way to find them and catch 'em. What did we do wrong yesterday? Only one over 10". We didn't really stay with the Grebes.

Some nice fish, one way or the other. The last pic of Tu and fish is a very good fish by my standards, colored up nice too. Those purple ones look like what I get. A good day folks.

Some really colorful males. Interesting that you mentioned the fantail had trouble with these beasts. No way around it, those gills will cause problems with most tackle when they are in trees and know where they are going. I had my heart broken several times when I was out there.

    thnx for the comments guys
Jeff - We weren't fishing the right spots. Thought about what Prankster said about where he found them on the south side. We should have fished in the marina - fish are stacked up in there. Think they finally stopped dropping the water. Bob told me he was getting his Bluegill out of the trees because he's using an 8lb. tippet. Wherever the baitfish - fry are, the CNBGs and REs are.
Tim - did you notice the rod behind Tu in that picture?
Randy - Right now - where I'm fishing at - is a great time for you to be here. Good fish and clutter free.
Hate the break offs Jim - happens to frequently out here. Moved the show to the other side of the pond - hoping to reduce losses. Didn't you come out with a Corsage?
