    Default A slow week

Ketchin the bluegill was slow last week. Went out 5 separate days for a few hours in the am each day, throwin jigs, and salted shrimp, even did some dock shootin, without a whole lot of luck. Probably got 30, or 40 all told, all week.

The majority were caught at 9 - 12 feet, over 20 - 40 fow. Caught a couple smaller kitty kats, and 3 or 4 green carp in the 10 - 12 inch range.

Here's some random pics, in no particular order, from last weeks trips. Sorry, you can't see the length markings on the bump stick ….. I'll try harder next time !

    Thanks for lookin !

Good catch, a mixed bag is fun. I bought a new Cabelas board for the reason shown in your pics, hard to read the old Golden Rule, and not marked off in smaller increments. I think the Hawg Trough works well also. Name: IMG_4909.jpg

Thanks for the reply. Yep, the observers don't miss much, specially any squirrel activity on the bank !

The larger mouthed bream are actually Green Sunfish, and we have quite a population in the lake, to the annoyance of the bass fishermen. I catch them quite often, but I target similar sized quarry, and ounce for ounce they outfight the bluegill, and even small bass, by a large margin.

These little tail pullers irritate the bass fishermen anytime a worm, or jig is thrown up to the bank, especially on a shallow, rocky slope, near deeper water. Tap tap tap ….. Tap tap tap …. !!! Purdy little things, though,

they are pretty little things , i look forward to catchin one !! although i may have to go out into the river , the slew is mostly sandy , muddy bottom.. and i usually fish for blue-gill size fish with tiny spinners , maybe i am not fishing deep enough for them , i am going to start using just a split-shot , hook and worm though so maybe i will have a better chance at them ......wish you and the observers luck and hopefully the catchin will get better with the cooler weather , if it ever gets here !!

Nice grab bag. My last couple of trips have been a little slow too. Seems like they bite pretty good the first hour of daylight but slow down pretty quickly.

Pretty fish. Hawg Trough numbers really pop in a photo. Been slow for me too...slow as in I haven’t been......LOL. I had boat hooked up Sunday but I let discretion be the better part of valor and I unhooked the boat and did not go. The ambient temperature topped out at 99 degrees. I’m glad I stayed home.

    Regards

I've had to go alot further from the boat launch to find my fish these days, must be the bite slowdown that happens during these heat waves. Thanks for sharing your pictures.

Beauties. Hate that "golden rule" - not photo friendly.
