    Default three ounces shy

I took a couple from San Antonio out yesterday and today for guided bluegill fishing. My high-dollar scale was not working yesterday, so we didn’t get weights, but we had a male northern that would’ve pushed 1.5 pounds, a male coppernose that would’ve gone between 1.5 and 1.75 pounds, and another male coppernose that would’ve gone between 1.75 and two pounds. We didn’t catch any giant coppernose today, but the lady did catch one pretty decent northern female, and this time we got a weight.

2 lbs. 14 oz. Two ounces shy of tying the state record, three shy of breaking it.

Great catch, those are some pigs. The next State Record may be swimming in those waters.

I think it could be, Stan! It's a pretty special pond.

Thanks, guys! The landowner is so excited that he's already contacted TWRA to get instructions on exactly what needs to be done if a three-pound-one-ouncer is caught. That big one was unreal - the photo doesn't do it justice. It was every bit of three inches thick.

Unreal fish for sure. Hope to catch a gill like that myself one day...
