Default Tightlining for white perch on Lake Rhodhiss, NC

I wanted to get my Kaboat rigged up for tightlining, and test out the new rig on lake rhodhiss. The target was white perch, and lordie did I ever catch them. The bait was louisiana swamp worms. I couldn't keep up with the amount of hits that I was having. It kinda got stressful after awhile.

The white perch are considered an invasive and a pest around here. Even though they look like a white bass, they taste much better. In my opinion, they are also better eating than crappie.

Best depth was between 12-20 feet. I was using three baits tied with dropper loops to a 1/2 oz casting sinker.

White perch are an invasive species here in Kansas. And I agree - better texture and taste than crappie. But I would rather catch crappie. Verticle with jigs!

Never caught a White Perch, or ate one. Looks like a fun time and a good mess of fish to boot.

They sure tasted good with a cornmeal jacket tonight... and I put 9 vacuum sealed bags of fillets in the freezer to boot... yep, better eating than crappie. Try em' if you get a chance.

Nice haul! I wouldn’t mind a taste test but I don’t want them in Arkansas.

So an update on white perch and a finished product... Today I tried coating the uncooked fillets in franks red hot sauce. After the fillets had their hot sauce bath, I shook them in a ziploc bag with louisiana new orleans fish fry. Then I deep fried them. It tasted like a better version of a buffalo wing. Really good with some ranch to dip it in.
