Go small..... I use mostly a 1/64 jig with a #8 hook

I also pour a 1/80 jig and just got a mold to pour 1/100 jigs.

Gonna be fun to experiment.... come on cooler weather.

What size jigs do you guys use with the 1/64oz? I have some of the trout magnets just curious what else you'd use. How about casting with the light jigs? I don't have a boat so I'm stuck on shore. (Sorry I have lots of questions)

Bobby Garland itty bit swimmers, 1" small tubes ---- in boat or from shore sometimes I use a very small bobber - jigging parallel along a rocky dam or rip rap. Due to flooding, weather, work, etc, ain't fished in 2 weeks - hope to fish a few times this week!

I do this quite differently than anyone I've seen around here ….. This method weeds out the "rif-raf", and you will only catch the bigger fish. I have been laughed at many times for using a catfish hook for the gills, but, the proof is in the puddin !

I use a 7-0, or 8-0 Gamakatsu octopus circle hook, with a 1/16, to 1/8 oz splitshot, with a piece of crawler, weather on a bobber, or on the bottom.

Then I take a 1/4" piece of used Senko, or other plastic bait, and insert it just over the barb of the hook. This is key, as it keeps the tail pullers from suckin the worm off the pointy end.

This rig is awesome for the bruisers, and although I miss many fish, they are the dinks, and can't get a bait of this size into their tiny mouths.

My two big fish this year with this rig, are 1 pound 7 oz, and 1 pound 3oz. My personal best ever was 2 pounds 2 oz !!!

It's hard to read, but the scale says 1 lb 3 oz !!

I've had pretty good luck lately using some squirrel tail jigs I tied on some 1/32oz #8 hooks. I'll have to find me some of those smaller sized jigs.

I use 1/32oz jigs with a #8 hook, mostly- I will use a 1/64th some with a #10 hook. Black on black is my favorite. I like the black and bison colored trout magnet tails with a nibble. Their is nothing wrong with the TM jig heads, either. I pour my own.
