Default Tomorrows lunch ? Fish sticks .

Broke out dad's old # 6 Martin for a little wet fly (black gnat )fishing . Arthritis keeps me leaving the fly rod at home most days but them rascals start popping the water and I have to do it . Double round of Naproxin tonight lol . Name: 20190625_193022.jpg

Sounds like a great time! I learned to fly fish by fishing a black gnat for sunfish in a local lake when I was a kid. It was a lot of fun learning.

Looks like real fun. I have several fly rods I bought years ago for the trout fishing over in Arkansas, but I've always been too lazy to take them bream fishing. On the rare occasions that I get to visit the lake these years (haven't even been this year except to the local park pond) I always fall back to what I know so I'll have a better chance at having a good day. But I bet a good day with the fly rod in hand probably trumps a good day with the ultra light in hand.

A great mess of fish, bet they were fun on the fly rod. I grew up eating fish the way you have them cleaned, with the heads cut off, gutted, scaled and fried. To me, best way to fix them but my wife does not approve of the bones and fins, so it is boneless fillets at my house only.

Congrats on a great catch, I also clean my bream that way.

Those are some good gills for the table. I haven’t eaten one on the bones for a long time, might need to revisit that again. The way I look at it, if it isn’t big enough for a couple of good fillets, it goes back. Someone showed me years back how to fillet a 5 or 6” gill. With the skin off and flour dipped it is, hands down, the best tater chip on God’s green earth. Those little ones are a different flavor and they cook in less than a minute. Good Lord, now I’m hungry again!
