    Default Another 2lb CNBG from LP 06 07 19

Did a little pre fishing for My friend Tu who wants to take a nephew fishing on Sunday. Wasn't going to go but wanted to make sure we could get the boy hooked up. Rolled up to the flat - shallowest is 18.5 now. 1st cast and kaboom - hit a freight train. Post spawn female was 12 X 15.5 = 2.40lbs.
Bumped into a couple of more spent hens then took off to find something easier for Sunday. Luckily found an area holding mid size males that were very hungry. 2nd to last photo shows a CNBG with a green color back that I have never seen. I think it's because of the algae.

You better give the boy a pfd cuz he ain’t gonna be paying attention to stayin in the boat when those fish start stripping drag. Nice fish, and odd with the color you spoke of. Never seen that before.

    That's a toad, Sonny, congrats!

Do you know anything about a bluegill just under four pounds being caught in the last couple of years from Perris? I saw somewhere online that the lake record was listed as, if I recall correctly, 3 lbs. 15 oz., but that would also be the state record, and it's not listed as the state record. Just wondering if you had heard anything about that fish.

    thnx guys appreciate the comments

Walt - I heard the Marina (using an uncalibrated hand held scale) was the one that said it was a 3lb + Bluegill - that fish was never verified. Probably why it's not listed as a state record. Got friends that have been fishing San Vicente keeping 50lb limits (25). If they don't keep 2lb fish you won't eat - like Lake Havasu with the Redear & Hybrids. Lake Perris is getting to where you have to cull 10" fish......

Fantastic LedHed... I'd give about anything to take a long trip out there for a few days.

I think we all need to pack up and meet out there for a few days of good fishing.
