Very nice read skeet. Thanks for having us along with you for a little bit.
Beautiful fish too.
The eyes were opened to a couple of things today. When I fish with someone and we talk and get out of a snag or tree, things slip by sometimes. This might have been a coincidence but I don’t think so. The bird in the pics below is known as a Limpkin. His buffet is along the shoreline in the form of snails. So I’m easing along a shoreline and in a stretch that was just a muddy bank, here he was, poking and walking and eating something now and then. As you can tell by how close I got to take that pic, they could really care less about about me being there. I pitched in a few feet from him and don’t move the jig much and get the hit. Raise the rod tip and it was on. That fish was the big one below and surfaced 5 times, thrashing and trying to throw the hook. Above average fight and it was picture time. Back in I looked at the bird, who had moved down the bank some, and pitched at him again. Same thing, and this fish fought almost the exact same way. This one was just a tiny bit shorter but you wouldn’t have known it. Two studs in less than 5 minutes. What I think was happening was that as this bird was poking and feeding his way down the bank, the bigger gills have figured out that he’s dislodging stuff to eat and they pay attention. It sure worked like that this morning. I’ll be looking for this from now on.
The bite has changed from a few weeks back and the bedding is about done. The redbellies are back to their hint of red/orange selves, and no big ones of those were found today.one small LMB got into the mix, and the gar had me retying a few more times than I usually do. In at 6:30 and out at 9:30 after a call from Phil who needed me to ride along to go pick up a motor hoist. The timing of his ca, was at just the right time. I was feeling like the guy at a ball stadium in the cheap seats, throwing peanuts against the wind. It had gotten up to about 10 steady with gusts a bit higher. Not terrible but with a 1/64 on the line, casting was tough and I was about ready to go. I believe the count was 5 good fish and over 20 others that kept me interested in between the gooduns. Hope everyone gets a chance to get out and get a few. And hey, I even remembered to put the plug in today. Til next time, hope to see you on the water one day soon. Til then.....Skeet

Good observation, and interesting, too. Another thing, I noticed that you tend to catch big ole bluegill, good job!

That’s a good shot of the Limpkin, saw some of those rascals in Costa Rica last week on the Pacific side. Cool bird, I bet you see the Roseate Spoonbill a lot also, one of my favorites. I never get tired of those dark Gill shots, keep them coming.
