    Default Memorial Day Pond Fishing

I took my son Jacob to a friend’s pond this morning. My buddy says he feeds the fish a lot but doesn’t fish it much. Man his fish were not shy. We caught some good channel cats, bluegill, Largemouth Bass, green sunfish, and hybrid sunfish (bluegill x green sunfish). They were all very aggressive and my son didn’t get bored. Jacob caught his personal best bluegill that was right at 10”. The Tict IceCube got a good work out too. It handled the channel cats like a pro. This was the perfect setup for a young developing angler. He has been working on his knots, baiting his hooks, tying on his own lures and getting fish off his hook. Almost there. I think that by next summer, Dad will get to do a little more fishing and a little less teaching. Name: IMG_1532.jpg

Those are some nice looking fish, especially the Gills. Congratulations on the PB. Did you take a few home for the fryer, good to eat and good for the pond!

We did not take any home. I already have a freezer full of fish. But I did encourage the pond owner to start keeping some of them.

Nice looking fish. I need to find a pond owner that will let me fish.

Good trip, especially for Jacob. This will help build his confidence like you said. While you’re teaching, show him how to do the loop knot that leave the tag end facing the hook or lure. Been fishing a while and this knot is the best yet for me.

The fourth fish from the bottom is a coppernose. Not sure if that's the one you're referring to as a 10"; I do see a couple hybrid bluegill but that one is definitely a coppernose.
