Default It might be Mother’s Day

But it was Christmas for me today. The day started slow, searching for new territory. While I found a few it was nothing I’ll go back to. Gar and Mudfish showed themselves today for the first time in a while. Even if they’re around I usually don’t get bothered by them much. 2 spots done and about 9:30 I went back to where Ernie and I had some fun last weekend. Should have started there and I would never have moved. Got a few gills, a lot of which I didn’t take pics of. But the stars of the day were the Redbreasted Sunfish, they were on the beds. I wish they grew bigger cuz they just have a strong attitude. Hit, pull the rod tip down, make the drag sound off, and the fish isn’t but 7”. And all of the bigger ones were lit up strong as you can see from the pics. I’m sure I released over 30 of the redbreast alone. About 11 I started to feel hungry, my hunger clock, and knew it was time to go. All released for another day or to finish what they had started. A few pics below of the stars of the day, and the ‘Cracker came from spot 2 on a 6’ deep bank with a white Rooster Tail. Hit it like he owned it! Thanks for coming along, and don’t forget to take care of Mom this weekend......Skeet.

Nice report skeet. I've gone out for such fun runs many times... also releasing everything I caught. Such trips are perfect for keeping the fishing monkey off your back.

Beautiful fish. Last year was my first for really getting into redbreast. They may not be as big as the bluegill but as you say....those things have an attitude.

    Regards

The ventral side of those fish are just awesome. They are scrappy, I caught a few last year mixed in with some Gills. I hope to tangle with some more. Great day of mixed Panfish, fun always trumps the catch when I am on the water.

It's not the numbers or the size, it's the time spent on the water!
