I have the Suffix Nano braid (4-lb) on a reel that I have used the last 6 months. I really really like it but it is low-vis green. It casts a mile and I haven’t experienced any wind knots with it. The only down side is it is really hard to visually detect bites. It is very thin and hard to see. I tried out the Unitaka Night Game after I tried the Suffix Nano braid and I like the Unitaka better. It is bright yellow and much easier to see. The Suffix Nano braid would be good if you wanted to use braid without a leader. I will be sticking with the Unitaka Night Game braid moving forward (unless I find something better). The thrill of the chase is almost as good as catching fish. Almost...

I bought some of the Sufix Nanobraid, but have not used it yet. Got some 10 lb for my drop shot rods, and some 2 lb to try on a UL.

OK....after a 2 year hunt and thanks to Stan...Matt...and some others for good info......I finally got off my rear to order some PE line. I ordered the Unitika 3# test. My line setups are now complete....although I will need some spare spools...or heaven forbid....just order some more reels...LOL. I have felt all along that I need PE....FC....nylon, and ester lines depending on the situation. The fact that the Unitika has a slightly higher specific gravity than other PE lines convinced me to purchase...along with the feedback from this group. It will go on one of the new Ballistic reels I just recieved.

If and/or when you locate a supplier of reasonably priced JDM spare spools, please share. All that I have found so far make buying another reel instead more cost effective.

The cheapest I found were around $120. That’s what I paid for a new reel!

I have fought with the decision to buy or not to buy spare spools since I got into JDM reels. This is one of the reasons I bought as many reels as I have. If we look at the Presso Limited those of us that got it on sale it would be a no brainer to buy another reel.....at the sale price. That spool sells for 170. But if you had to pay full Limited price it’s a different story. The spare spool for the Ballistic is $110. I don’t think there are going to be any so called affordable spare spools for JDM reels.....spare spool for the Freams is $45. I’m wanting to have setup for a total of 4 different line types....with a couple of those line types in different pound ratings. I would prefer those all be on low ratio reels. So in my best case scenario I would need a total of 6 low ratio reels....or a combination of reels and spare spools. Decisions, decisions.

    Regards

15 LUVIAS Spare Spool - HEDGEHOG STUDIO

This is the source for the JDM spools that I found. I’m not sure if the price is reasonable or not.

You can get spools from Plat for a little less. Plat has spare parts for most JDM reels sold going back several years for each model. HedgeHog is the place to go for hand selected bearing tuning kits....and customization parts....handles....knobs...drags....a lot of stuff.

I have been searching for a spare spool for my Presso Ltd, and as you say $170 for a spare spool was high IMO, so I bought a new Ballistic LT 1000 for $216. I showed those guys.
