That's a pretty fish, whatever it is!
Or the redbreast I often see here on the forum ? Not sure the proper id name ….My old lone star beer Texas freshwater fish chart says yellowbelly sunfish ?
I know its for sure a long one and worthy of mention in these parts , I always called them river bream myself as they seem to be about 99.9% of the time be in a flowing water body here in Texas.
sure fought well on a winter day in the creek and I thought at first I had me a nice red ear sunfish .

I travel 81 miles one way to catch those is the spring. Nickajack Lake is full of them...and nice ones. They do fight like a red ear. I’ve never caught a single one west of Jasper, TN in the lakes I fish. Go figure.....they made it all the way to Texas but couldn’t stop along the lakes in Middle TN....LOL.

A nice looking Sunfish, and decent size to boot. About ten of those would make some awful good fish taco fillers! Good catch.

That fish looks to hybridized to me ......the ones I see that are in the rivers and such in Texas have a deep forked tail that’s sharp on the tips ...
The one I posted isn’t the best example of the tail and it looks a bit worn on the bottom .
And I don’t remember ever seeing any patterns of spots on them either
My 2 cents
