No, price is not the reason. I bought from them just a couple of weeks ago and it was the same price and made in Japan. I am very unpleasantly surprised myself.

Interestingly, Digitaka apparently put out a warning about two origins for Luvias. They state that they only source the Japanese version at this point. I suspect in the near future most of Luvias on the market will be made in China.

I hate you here that. I’m going to fire off an email to Digitaka to see what they know about it.

They (Digitaka) now have image with the relevant statement in the description of every Luvias model they carry.

Saw that and I see on some European sites they say the same. Well.....it was a good run. Hopefully they will keep the line Made in Japan.

Basically, 2020 Daiwa Luvias is made in Japan.
However, although the initial production model is made in Japan, some of the additional Luvias (additional production, etc.) are manufactured at the Daiwa plant in China.
Currently, even if Luvias were manufactured with the same reel size, because it is divided into Japan and China, it is difficult for us to purchase from Daiwa only reels that are described as made in Japan.
