It does have quite a bit of resistance to rotation when compared to Shimano Soare C2000SS PG (which also has an amazingly shallow spool). The Soare starts and stops effortlessly and therefore is perfect for my jig head fishing needs. I will stick with Shimano's Stradic derivatives in that department or try the new Twinpower, but the Luvias is certainly a very worthy purchase otherwise.
You talked me into trying the Shimano.
$230 shipped (maybe?) from Platt, competitive with the Luvias.

Wasn't my intention, but I do think that Soare Ci4+ and specifically the C2000SS PG model is also an amazing little reel. Both the Soare and the Luvias will have their own strengths.

You don't know what you don't know, so I try and learn something new everyday. I have a lot of Daiwas, but only 1 cheap 500 series Shimano. It's all part of the Wonderful Human Experiment.JDM reels relating to panfish

I hope you are right. I just ordered Ballistic FW 2500S-C 5.2 gear, same body as 1000/2000 but bigger spool.

Strung up the new 20 Luvias 2000 with some 4lb Unitaka Braid and mounted it to the 7.4 Corto. A stoutly but sensitive steed that needed a bit bigger wheel house for Vertical Jigging deep brush this summer. Had it out of stable once last week, balances well and is worthy of the LT designation. The Mono-whatever body is pretty cool, seamless and it is obvious after fishing with the lower ratio reels that the line sure does come back in a hurry with the bigger turning radius. I am not casting and retrieving with this outfit, mostly fishing straight down with a few pendulum drops every now and then. The new Luvias, so far, is as advertised. Name: Adjustments.jpg

Grabbed a Ballistic FW LT1000S-P from TW to go on my incoming Evergreen Limber Tip SS. I also ordered the upgrade bearings from ebay. I wanted a 1000 size low ratio reel for panfishing. I thought about another 20 Luvias LT 2000S, but the price is way up, and they are OOS anyway.

This does not surprise me. They have to be hurting with the lack of EMS mail service. Ordering something such as jig heads....line...lures...the shipping is so high folks aren't buying smaller items. I've noticed something else during this time also. A lot of US market stuff is not available at this time due to Covid.

    Myself also.
Ordered it on 6/11, recieved confirmation on 6/12 that it would ship 6/25. They cashed my PayPal funds immediately, tho.
Just an FYI, if anyone is thinking about getting one soon, TW has been listing them as "closeout" for a while now.

In case someone is interested, Asian Portal is having a sale on reels and free shipping (ca. $4 handling fee). They have Luvias FC LT at ca. $250 or below (plus ca. $4 handling fee), but you have to check frequently and try to catch the 2000S and 2500S models because they fly off the shelves at the speed of light. They do restock those models. I just got the first one delivered - fast and no problem, they use FedEx. At that price, a great buy of a reel.
