That is something I am trying to find out but is proving difficult. The weight is exactly the same as 2000S.

Although the sale on the Ballistic FW was VERY tempting, I was able to resist and not order one. Instead, I have ordered a tuning kit for my Luvias and a shorter handle (40 mm) and cork knob. I am impressed with the reel but not a fan of the 50 mm handle on the 2000S-XH model. too long for my personal taste ...

What are the thoughts on carbon drag washers for 1000-2000 size reels?

I have them in a couple of reels. Not sure there is any benefit....the standard Daiwa felt washers with Daiwa grease works pretty darn good.

I have carbon drag washers in some of my Shimano reels. After awhile the factory felt washers wear down from being compressed constantly if you adjust or tighten down your drag alot.

If the FW 1000 spool fits the 20 Luvias 2000S then I wonder why Daiwa doesn't offer it that way with a shorter lighter handle and name it the 20 Luvias 1000S???

It would be nice to have a shallower spool offering for us ultralight folks.

Re-thinking if I want to pull the trigger on a 20 Luvias 2000S only to see Daiwa offer a 1000 size Luvias down the road?

    Thoughts?

You’ll be waiting a long time. The Luvias has been on a refresh cycle of 5 years. So you won’t see any new Luvias for quite a while. I don’t pretend to know what Daiwa is thinking. But it appears to me that this is all about marketing. I am still thinking they are also doing away with the Presso line of reels. The Presso Limited Daiwa site is still up but the standard Presso reel site is gone. It looks like they also did away with the Gekkabijin EX. So it’s either an Exist or a Ballistic FW for the intermediate to high range on the 1000 series. I plan on using the Ballistic FW spool on my new Luvias quite a bit. I have no clue if they will be offering up any new intermediate to high end 1000 series reels anytime in the near future. You can go with the Shimano Vanquish 1000 but it is $150 more than the Luvias.

    Regards

That's the information I was seeking.

Luvias 2000S it will be with maybe a 40mm handle. I'll use it as my 3lb line reel and delegate one of my other reels to 2lb test.

    Thank you
