I have a Diawa Geka Bijiikin MX, 18 model LT in the 2000 size. I payed about 150 for it when they first came out (with the coupon). It is mag sealed and has a nice smooth drag. Bought it for a couple reasons, first I wanted a reel I could spool up some Nanofil/Suffix Nanobraid/ Fireline Crystal in 2lb test, USA rating, and have on hand for when I needed it for stronger applications. Second, I only have the 1000 size reels in the other models I have, so I thought having a little bit bigger spool that holds a little more line could come in handy down the road....dock shooting, heavier jig heads, trolling. Last, the racing red color accents caught my eye. I have been pleased with the reel, no complaints, I just know it is definitely not a Luvias, and no way a PressoLTD. With the amount of action it will probably see, I no issues with the reel. As always, your mileage may vary, but I think your Freams will be more than sufficient for your application.

Please let us know how this reel performs. I will probably make a decision based on your thoughts, thank you!! I've got two Luvias reels that I love and probably 15 Pflueger President reels. The President series is a very good option for the $$$.

Frankly, I don't know if I'm a skilled enough fisherman to enjoy the upside of these expensive reels??

I'm debating it, Randy. I don't like that they went away from the smaller series reel. I like the 1003 reel. I have the 2004 and it's fantastic, too, but would've ordered the smaller one in a second.

What did you say in your video about their other 1000 series reels?? Is it just the Ballistic now??

As far as I can tell the Ballistic FW is the only Daiwa intermediate priced reel in the 1000 series. I have come to prefer the 1000 series over the 2000 myself.

Randy, I never owned a high gear ratio reel and honestly wanted to try it out and compare the retrieve. I’m planning on using this reel for trouts in the mountains using various crankbaits, spoons and spinners. According the Daiwa website description, this model fit the bill...
