    Default Trout Slayer Series Rod

I was watching a video by Alphahawk reviewing the rod offerings by Trout Magnet (Leland Lures) and I was impressed by the Trout Slayer Series at its price point so I placed my order for one.

The rod is the TSS Rainbow Edition, 6'6" ultra light fast action. Rated for 2-6 lb line and lures 1/64-1/8 OZ.

I have ordered from Leland Lures before and they offer fast service and shipping as I ordered on Sunday Evening and the rod was at my front door Wednesday at lunch time.

I am really impressed as the rod seems very nice for the money.

The fit and finish on the rod is very clean and neat and just as in the video this sucker is both slim, lightweight and has a really good backbone feel as well.

Will probably be a few weeks before I have a chance to get out and test it but I have faith in Alphahawks review.

I will be using this mainly for blue gill fishing and I am really looking forward to trying it out. Definitely check this one out it does appear to be a nice lightweight rod for the money.

I linked the video I watched that turned me on to this, hope Alphahawk does not mind.

Sounds like a quality rod. Hope your first gill on it is a 2-pounder.

I ordered one too. Will be throwing 1/64 and smaller jigs. What do you think would be a good reel for this rod. Nothing over a hundred bucks and really like one cheaper than that. What do you all think??

A Shimano Sedona 1000 is a good reel......for the money.

For a good reel for the money it is hard in my opinion to beat the Pflueger President reels.
The 20 size matches up nice on this rod (balances perfectly about 1 1/2" in front of the down rod from the reel mount) and right now Dicks Sporting goods or the Field and Stream stores has a 10.00 mail in rebate going on the President reels.

With the 20 size selling for 49.99 and rake off the 10.00 rebate you are only paying 39.00 as final cost plus tax. The larger 25 sizes and up are 59.99 before the rebate and the 30 size Pflueger reels are are about the same size as many companies 20 size reels.

If you want to move up a class the Pflueger Supreme is also a nice reel and runs 99.00 but can usually be found for around 79.00 and the smallest size is the 25. The Supreme upgrades from a graphite body of the President to a Magnesium body.

I have multiples of both reels and unless I am going to move up to another brands more of their really "upper end" series I find the Pfleugers hard to beat for the dollars spent.

I've been using the Okuma UL-10 reels on my panfish rods and am very happy with them. They come with 2 spools and are $20 or less.

The Pflueger President and Mitchell 300 series are very comparable reels and a good deal for the money in my opinion. Either can be picked up for less than $50 on sale.
