A blast from the past ... I used to own a Kencor. :) Very unique blanks.

My JDM inventory consists of one rod: a Yamaga Blanks Blue Current. It's the best spinning rod I've ever owned, better than any of my Loomis or St. Croix rods.
FWIW, I don't worry about breaking my rods when I fish. I estimate 95% of rod breakage is "user error". If you take care of them, your rods will be fishing long after you're gone.
As Ledhed,Hawk said I am a bassfishermen turned Panfish wannebe crappie fishermen,Really Enjoy lite Tackle fishing for Pan fish, smallmouth crappie.Make just about everything I fish with like DIY projects.Have Tryed just about every blank MUDHOLE.COM and others carry.A guy can build cheap or expensive the sky is the limit. Can go to walmart and buy ready to fish. The blanks we are after are unreal the price and the guides or even worse. The good reel seats Wow!! you can have 500$ in a rod in a hurry. trying to Build the next great Loomis Rod.My Wife said no more!! Can buy rods already to fish cheaper.Lol Have put together built several rods, fly rods.Live on the White River/Red River trout capital of the world!! Get to see a lot of custom built fly/spinning rods!! Can see some of Jeffs Rods at Crappie magnets/trout magnets .com has built. He can build a fly/spinning rod about as cheap as anyone. My Opion. Not a pro by any means.
The difference in a Great rod and a cheap one is not only the blank, guides but the reel seats.A good smooth reel "shimano" makes a big difference to!!My two pennies.
Have been experimenting with two piece rods and one piece rods to me the break in the blank is like a break in a cable the weakest link.Lose the tap or thump of a crappie or panfish. Just my opion!! Probably confidence more than anything else.
The bass fishermen in me.Lol The Pro Bass Fishermen will not even talk about a two piece rod.Lol
Looking at fluorocarbon line have ordered just about every 2 lb fluorocarbon line out their to experiment with.
Fishing catching on our lakes and streams is about as tough in July/August as it gets hot and not many bites.
Am a G Loomis lite tackle fan the JDM rods Med lite and St Croix lite Rod"new" addition The best I own.My Two cents
Am really enjoying the St Croix rod eyeing a Ultra lite.In My Future.Have to wait a while until my wife gets over the last.Lol
just have to tell her I might build one she says just order it.Lol

Kencors (were huge in SoCal for UL fishing) are better than stock options - made a killing selling blanks ($30 blanks going for $300 now).
I trout fished the last two days using my Majorcraft ultralight 7'3" and it is now my favorite rod. I used 1 and 2lb. test line and it worked well with both although I had several fish break me off while I was reaching down to the jig to twist hook out for release with the 1 lb. Maxima. Went with 2lb the next day and didn't break off a fish. My rod is low end JDM and will get a couple higher price models in the future. If a low end JDM performs this well I'm wondering what a high end will do. I give this rod 4 stars.
I’ve been down that road. Was warned not to start buying high end JDM rods......I didn’t listen.....LOL. It really is no turning back if you go there. I’m wanting to buy some low-medium range rods to review on my channel.....but I keep going to the high end rods. Like the last thing I need is another JDM rod but I’m about ready to pull the trigger again.

Alphahawk, with all the JDM ultralight rods at your disposal how do decide which one's you are going to use? I usually take 2-3 rods with me whenever I go and the third pick is the hardest one.
I used to only take 2 if in the boat. Since getting a SUL and an XUL I will now take 3. Either the XUL or SUL if I run into just medium size Gills......a Truzer 6’ 5” “Hard” model Ajing rod in case I run into white bass....large or smallmouth, and either an area trout rod or my Tict Ice Cube for crappie and or 8-9 inch bluegill. Ninety-five percent of the time the Ice Cube will be with me. If I am targeting Smallies at Pickwick or Dale Hollow I will have the Yamaga Blanks Blue Current TZ with me. Before getting into these new Uber UL rods it was a max of 2......from now on it will be 3.

2 or3 rods in the boat. The cover on my boat is junk and I left rods in the rod box. Pulled the cover back and found the moisture and almost said bad words. Mildew had started to grow and I had to take them all out and scrub the handles. Worked out fine, but I learned something about myself. I had 18 rods in the boat, and just as many in the shop. I need to take what I need and not use the box for storage. Half of them were ultra light with 4 lb or 2 lb line. I guess I’m partly on the right track. I just hate to retire when I want to throw something else.
Has anyone bought one of these new st croix rods?
