Default Why I bought an XUL Area Trout Rod.

Had a fun day catching a bunch of copper nose bluegill in the 7-8 inch range. I wish our waters were full of these....and I wish they would get as big as Lake Perris bluegill...but they aren’t and they don’t. I feel blessed to be able to fish a lake that has them in it at all. The video shows exactly why I wanted that XUL rod....I’m a firm believer in matching the tackle to the fish.....makes things a lot more fun. Hope you enjoy video. I’m trying to make them shorter as I know folks don’t want to watch 20 minute videos.

    Regards

Good video and a busy day. That’s plenty of fish to keep me happy. Thanks.

Good video. The gills I have locally here in Georgia on public waters are that size or smaller. You can occasionally find that nice one .
Several of the lakes have the potential to grow big gills , but they are over fished especially when they’re bedding . And our creel limits are way too high IMO . Fifty fish per persons allows a couple of cricket throwers to wipe out a bedding area in a few hours.
Folks don’t realize or some may not even care , how long it takes a bluegill to reach trophy size .
Personally I don’t enjoy fishing for gills on the bed . I like for them to be scattered .
I also enjoy chasing LM bass on my ULs . For that you need a different UL rod and sometimes heavier line in the 4-6# . Gillchaser

How did you like the Palms rod and how would you compare it to rods from other manufacturers?

Another great video Randy. Match the hatch with the gear too.
92* water!!! that's crazy - last time I looked we were still 78* (morning temp)
Not a bobber/float fan but if needed - trout magnet makes the best
