I'm probably in the minority on this, but I don't care about warranties. (Maybe it's because I've never broken a rod. Knock on wood.)

That's one of the reasons top fly rods are now in the $800 -$900 range. The warranty costs are built into the prices. I wish they would just give you a basic 1-year warranty to cover manufacturing defects and then let you buy an extended warranty if you wanted -- like you're able to do with every other consumer product on the planet.

yes there is,the sensitivity is unparalleled. i love my st croix eyecons, and panfish rods. will i catch more fish on a jdm....probably not a whole lot. its the way they feel and react. i think you need to be a person that has a passion for lightweight fishing. they are fun to fish with thats worth the money for me some folks it wont be and theres not a thing wrong with that. its a personal preference for me and not all of em are ultra expensive. im just getting started but i'm pretty hooked on em.

St Croix spinning Avid series rods have satisfied and has everything I need for my sac-a-lait / bluegill / panfish fishing in south Louisiana waters. Plus they have a great warranty. Fishing Louisiana waters don't have to be that precise with presentation. But you only live once so enjoy / fish with the best equipment that suit your needs. But going from Loomis to JDM that's getting very precise / technical fishing --- enjoy.

I have invested in 2 JDM rods, 2 Diawa JDM reels. I have not taken the opportunity to try them out due to the extreme heat and having to work. I finally got one of them spooled with 2lb Nanofil. I can barely see it let alone trying to tie a knot. We will see how it goes.

I used NanoFil for about 18 months 3-5 days a week when it first came out....didn’t fish with anything else. I have a love hate relationship with it to this day. This spring I used some 1# test NanoFil fishing for shell cracker and red breast sunfish. I love the casting distance.....and the extreme sensitivity. The older I’ve become it is using the leader that I hate.....and I always use a fluorocarbon leader with it. It has no abrasion resistance so my leader is pretty long...around 3 feet maybe more. It is hard to see 1# and 2# test NanoFil now at my age......but I am sure I will use it some more.

    Regards
