I'm using 2lb braid and a 4lb clear mono leader, and go after my jig a lot in the course of a day. Crappie don't much care about braid but I find the others are picky. Using a mono leader and braid was frustrating for me, I tied on leaders at an astounding rate. My bet advice is to go after them as best you can and find a good price for the jig heads you will undoubtedly lose.

I've had good luck using Fireline Crystal (Crystal color) tied directly to what ever I'm using (jig, crank, spinners,) 10lb equals 4lb mono dia, it's compatible to brad in toughness.

I use the 4lb braid on a few of my reels simply because I really do like the benefits that it offers. I also use mono on many of my reels because I take out various people and many aren't skilled enough to handle braided line.

I've got braid that's been on certain reels for 2+ years and still very strong!

I use Invis-braid, it’s white-like color above the water makes it highly visible, and Power Pro (green or yellow). Both with or without a fluorocarbon or mono leader according to the situation.
Pass the "Sportsman Baton" on before you're gone, promote values for others to hunt and fish upon.

I pretty much do the same. I buy the Berkley Vanish fluorocarbon leader material, 10#.

    Default Surgeon's Knot

This is a simple knot to add a leader to your braid.
