Let’s start this out with a Full Moon Shot
?
About the best I could do through Alberto’s relentless cloud cover, wind and rain showers, but one thing is for sure no tropical storm can stymie the spawn of the little fishies with the blue spots on their gills. A guy I met through work was supposed to join me this afternoon but he works in the medical equipment service field and the local hospital called him as he got to the ramp with an out of whack machine and he had to leave without even wetting a line. So I just went exploring, vowing to find new beds and NOT fish the same spots as earlier in the season. Without Side Imaging, I just try to find similar structure, depth, and bottom composition of areas that are like known bedding locations. It worked, but I had to fight an East Wind which is not normal and definitely not easy to cast UL offerings.

Two on the water shots, nice looking dudes!
?
When I boated this guy his tail immediately told me what he has been doing!
?
?
Big fish of the day and year above, he was almost 9in by 5in, a great fish for this lake.
?
An even 16 made the cut this afternoon, with lots of females caught and released. The males were actually following the hooked females to the boat and “bumping” (wink wink) them in the process. If i had a long handled net I may have been able to net some of the over zealous following males. I have done this while walleye and white bass fishing during their spawn, and actually netted more than 1 caught fish.

East Tennessee, I alternate between Cherokee and Douglas, just depends on how much time I have. Both lakes are drawn down almost 40 feet each winter so scouting prospective points and cuts while the water is down takes a lot of guesswork out of finding them in the summer when the water is up.

You did well! I would expect muddy water, but from your pics, that doesn’t seem to be the case. I haven’t fished in almost a week, and I’m starting to get a “tic” in my right hand!

That's a story of a busy day. Some real nice fish that got the invitation too. Tons of fun in those little fish.
