It's been a tough bite for me and I'm lucky to find these. Big fish was a decent stud though, 12in and a pound and a half or so.

    Nice mess still

Have you tried trolling outside the beds? Near drop offs or edge of weeds.....
Seen people & friends struggling today - I was catching in 24 to 28 FOW.

That is a good mess. I have also done well trolling outside bedding areas in the past, before I knew what I was doing. The the state sprayed the weeds and shut everything down and I went elsewhere to find fish. Found out later that the beds were close by. Nice big fish though.

Buddy, I covered a ton of ground this morning. Fished from Double Creek all the way to Davenport Bay, making 3 or 4 stops during the process.

I think the redear numbers are lower this year. Have you caught any nice redear?

Pretty fish......It’s tough a lot of places. I hit Nickajack 2 days after I killed the shell cracker...the beds are now empty. I fished Old Hickory Lake today. Found a lot of beds with a few fish on all of those beds....but the fish were spawned out....they need to eat bad. Water temps were 82 degrees.....highly unusual for water temps in that lake to be at 82 degrees in mid May. We really have not had a spring here in TN......it is now full blown summer. Of course I will keep fishing but it is not a normal spring for sure. Some are catching but most are not.

    Regards

Sonny, I haven't really tried that tactic. I'm a bottom fisherman for better or worse about 90% of the time. I thread a slip cork on, snell a 2 crappie hook and pinch a 5 or 7 sinker on and let go directly to the bottom targeting redear. I would absolutely target those big bluegills that you catch but they just don't exist here in Kentucky. We do have quality redear here in West Ky.

I don't even use a bobber stopper cause I fish on bottom on these lakes. Alphahawk is 100% correct, we've had virtually no spring at all. It was snowing a month ago, today it's 90 plus degrees.
