    Default The mixed bag syndrome

The crappie in these parts are playing hard to get and its pretty spotty right now on them . I don't get near enough time to go find them these days and am just happy to get to pitch a jig here and there when the moment is right.
That said the one thing that's a little different this year is the "mixed bag syndrome" .
We are finding fish of all sorts in areas crappie tend to hang in the spring and in some spots the bream are up early it seems . Don't know whats driving what right now but to be sure every visit to the water yields some kind of something that is not actually what I intended to ketch .
So below are some of the fish from the last 3 days and all the fish bit jigs , the warmouth my bud SK ketched at dark thirty and the others were just in my way as well .I hope to find what I search for soon but until that time arrives I guess some fish beats no fish
SK seems to think I enjoy ketchn just ANY fish , that isn't exactly true though and I get a bit frustrated when these here fish I aint really after mix up my bag . Soon to be after them again and until I find some to show ya .
have a great day and stay tuned

I feel your pain! When you’re fishing for crappie, and catch something else, it kinda disappoints me!

I look at a mixed bag as a good thing,as long as they are eaters,I'm content with the variety!looked like you had fun though.

Same here. Not knowing what you're gonna hook is not a bad thing.

Being an avid UL angler I don’t care what I hook. I may start out after crappie but if I find white bass.....trout....Gills......Smallies.....black perch stacked up somewhere....well you get the picture...I ain’t l leaving that spot to go find crappie.

    Regards

Here in the hills there is an old saying,"NEVER LOOK A GIFT HORSE IN THE MOUTH " that's how I look at catching a smorgasbord of fish!

    a smorgasbord of fish
Where I fish, there's no such thing as targeting a species - at least not with the lures I use, and by the looks of it, the lures you used to catch such a grand bunch of fish!
Too bad the weather we've had is more like mid winter than being only a few weeks away from the 1st day of spring. Not as young as I used to be using my boat as a black-ice breaker to be able to fish in March.

Congrats on a really excellent catch!
