I have the Chattahoochee near me. Keep telling myself I need to fish it for trout.

Correct no float. I caught them under a waterfall in a slack area of the river. If I am wading I will cast both up and down stream. I had taken a buddy with me and he wanted to try for the bigger fish so I put him in the current to get a few but I was having too much fun under the waterfall so after letting him get a few good ones I went back over to waterfall.......LOL. He was catching them under the float.

I’ve thought about hitting Hooch myself . They have the designated catch and release areas that require barbless hooks . I see Trout Magnet is offering their heads in barbless . Gillchaser

I'm not much of a trout guy, but there are "artificial only" stretches. Because I'm not much of a trout guy, I've never really followed what areas allow what baits.

The best time to fish it is on low water. You can’t get a boat in there on low water so you will have to wade. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve floated it in a kayak. Catches of 150 trout a day are common on low water......from small to large. On those float trips I would also stop to hit the deep holes and catch 30 or so big black nose crappie before moving on. The problem is unless you float it on low water there is no other way to bank fish most of the river......all private land and just no access. Lest anyone think some 2# test and Trout Magnets don’t catch big fish here is one my son got down river a couple of years back.
