Both,I often fish the dropshot with double hooks / lure,I notice I catch more fish on the bottom hook/ lure than on the upper hook / lure.I usually set my lower hook just above the bottom or just above the tops of the vegetation, with the upper hook a foot or so above the bottom hook.I have caught a couple fish with both hooks in their mouths, but usually just one fish at a time.

Being boatless, I usually fish mine casting from shore. I generally let it sit in place for a couple of minutes after the cast and then ever so slowly reel so it drags across the bottom all the way in if I'm searching for fish, or leave it in place for a few minutes if I already know they are there.

Both. Its my #1 rig for big gills. #10 fly hook with a gulp mini earthworm or live wigglers.

I let it hit bottom then shake the rod tip 3-4 times and pause keeping a tight line, then move the sinker 6"-12" and repeat. I typically use 1/16oz drop shot weights. If really windy or fishing deep water i will up it to a 1/8. Never used heavier.

For vertical i use the graph and watch the fish. Keep it above them and watch how they react.

i use it when water is too deep for slip float 10 fow plus. I prefer a float when they are shallow. drop shot BG is one of my wife's favorite way of fishing. She catches a fish and I hand her my rod and take her fish off and bait the hook by then she has caught another one and I can start the process all over again.

    Yes, jan 1- dec 31.

In 1-60' of water as well. I guess what im saying is that whenever the gills are feeding on/near the bottom, a drop shot is killer. The only time i wouldnt bother is sight fishing beds.
