Hey guys. I've been looking for a little stiffer rod. So I can put two jigs and a float on it. Also fish a little heavier line 4-6 lb. I ordered a G Loomis 7' light GLX two piece rod? What is the JDM equivalent if I don't like it? Thanks Jim

The JDM rods I mentioned are going be far more sensitive than the Loomis. You can rule out area trout rods for what you are wanting to do. An ajing rod sounds like your best option.....say a 7' 4" 18 Corto. But I would also look at an 7' 5" Lunakia. Really any high end 7 foot ajing rod will fit your bill.

I agree with alpha as far as suggestions... I think the 7’3” Majorcraft Triplecross would also fit the bill as well in a lower price range... I have the 7’4” Corto and it is a great rod that would for sure do what you are wanting...

Ok so finally decided to get another mid-range JDM rod since i love the Tict RF alot but with 2.5lb max and not sure i'll risk this beautiful rod to the mercy of hard charging waters of So. Cal. jetties i decided on a '20 Yamaga Blanks BC iii 74. A few members posted about it here a few pages ago stating it's a good rod but other than that not much on Youtube. Now just waiting for Plat to confirm stock it'll be home bound soon :]

It’s a sweet rod, would be excellent for what you’re describing.
So far with mine I can reasonably cast down to 1/32 heads all the way up to a 5/32oz head with a 4” twister grub on it with no trouble.
Super sensitive, soft, yet fast tip, strong backbone. Plenty long enough for float fishing, 3-5lb mono or a .2-.4 PE braid is the sweet spot.

The 6'7" Eradicator got a work out today. Snagged what I would estimate a 4 to 6 lb catfish. Rod doubled over but it handled the fight nicely. I lost the battle in the end as it broke off right at the shore as I was about to grab out of the water.

Had this week off work, spent a few days on the lake. Really got to give the new 75 Lunakia a workout. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by this Rod, when I first got it I was afraid it was TOO much more than the 610 Lunakia. While it is quite a bit more stout, the longer length gives me a super sensitive, almost soft tip action. I spent today drop shotting in the current around bridge piers with a 3” swim bait and a 3/8 weight, didn’t get my target species hooked up, but did lay into a couple real healthy drum, this rods handled them like a champ, no sweat. Works great with the .4 Varivas PE and a 4lb mono leader. After that I went down a deep rip rap back throwing a 4” curly tail grub on a 3/32 #1 hook jig head, hooked into a few smallies and another mess of big drum for some reason. Finished up throwing a 1.5gram #8 jig with 1 inch slider grub and caught a whole mess of 4-9” gills. I’m amazed at how this Rod loads for casting... I can throw the 1.5gram head with little slider grub about 90% of what I could the 3/32 with 4” grub, and I can pitch the drop shot rig a frigging mile. Admittedly, the smaller gills were not as much fun as the two smaller Lunakia or especially my Eradicator SUL, but was not dull. Sensitivity is the best on this of the three Lunakias I own.
