The rod arrived. First impressions...am very pleased with the build......fit and finish are excellent. It comes in at 56 grams on my scale. As I have stated before....actions on JDM UL rods are not like US market rods. But make no mistake it is a slow action rod for the ajing design....this rod is also able to handle small barracuda according to their marketing. The butt is at 6 mm as best as I can eye it with the ruler. The rod is for sure an SUL. First time I have received a rod with a tip protector on it...pretty good idea....as long as you do not break the rod getting it off....LOL. Rod was shipped in heavy cardboard tube. Always excited to get a new rod...even if I have ordered several dozen. But I have to say I have nothing like this rod and am very pumped to get out and fish it. This rod will be the ticket for the first batch of small white bass that show up in December in the dead lock. As Yodie has already said....bluegill and shellcracker will be a ton of fun on this rod also. The older I get the more fun factor I am looking for...this rod will give me that for sure. Maybe Yodie has used a 10 gram jig on this rod and can speak to it. I don't even own any 10 gram anything so that will not be an issue with me. My pics do not do this rod justice.....this rod is very beautiful...must see in person to appreciate. Thanks to Yodie and Stan for the input. My only regret....I waited way too long to order this rod.

    Regards

I think you will like the rod, mine moved ahead of the 6.10 Corto in the rotation due to the fun factor alone, and my ABU is a tad more sensitive than the Corto on bite detection. I do want to hear your thoughts on the ABU comparison with the Tict Rockin Finesse as far as backbone and bending curve. VaCrappieMan says the RF has a little more rigid feel but the specs are so much different.

    Randy,

I was hoping you liked it!

I have never actually tried to fish anything 10gr. On this rod, but for fun I did put a jig head head weighing in at 7.5 gram with a 3” twister tail grub on it, which got me close if not over 10gr, it was... a lot... to try to control... second cast broke the ester on the forward swing before it came off my finger, experiment over.

I got into a school of white bass over 4th of July on the river below KY dam in a flooded bushy point area by a chemical plant, throwing a yo zuri pins minnow, that was a hoot and a half of fun to be had with those 10” whites in the current with that rod.

I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on reel seat/fore grip section on this rod.

I think the 10g rating is quite high for that Abu. Alpha, I can’t wait to hear your thoughts about the Abu. Lots of people getting new equipment

I made a 180 mile round trip today to test out the Eradicator 6’ 7” Slow Taper Special. I sure did not want to put the boat in on a Sunday below Nickajack. All I wanted to do was get into any kind of fish.....no matter the size. When I evaluate a rod I try my best to be as objective as possible. Let me start by saying Yodies assessment and Abu Garcia’s Eradicator info page....videos.....blogs....are spot on. Even though I had my eye on this rod from day one I was just hesitant about it. Abu Garcia is not a big player in Japan. The MSRP of the Eradicator is up there with some big name players. So I kept putting off the purchase....even thinking it might be one I would just pass on. This rod is special. As I have said many times when it comes to sensitivity on JDM UL rods after you hit the $300 mark one can be splitting hairs. This rod is Uber sensitive.....extremely crisp.....steely....yet it is a slow action Ajing rod. It is probably the most sensitive rod I now own.....but as I stated you can split hairs on that subject. The rod casts like a dream...effortlessly.....and it will give you all the fun you want. Before I headed out I switched from an FW LT reel to the Presso Limited 1025 spooled with 2.3# test ester mono. I used a 1 gram Daiwa Gekkabijin jig head. I got the rod off of eBay out of Australia. The day I bought it I saved about 60 bucks from what Digitaka has it for.....or I should say had as they are sold out. This rod is really going to be a welcome addition for me. Bluegill....crappie.....white bass.....not to mention twitching for trout on the White River....Little Red. I get excited about new rods but this one really brings it out. I have scoured the rod over for flaws and I have to tell you it has a build quality as good as Tenryu....Graphiteleader. Most bass guys who go down the JDM road always have to have a reel that matches the rod, hopefully a reel with the same series as the rod with same colors. If they can’t get same brand reel to match with the rod they will find a reel from another manufacturer that matches in color. I’ve never felt a need to do that....but I do with this rod......LOL. I’m glad I don’t have to choose to have only 2 rods to fish with....but Yodie is correct....if I did right now...today....it would be the Eradicator and Lunakia. All the fish today were small. They had fertilized the lake since my last trip down and the black moss was rampant....you could smell it when you got out of the vehicle. All the bites were transmitted with a jolt....I had a 7 inch catfish that when he hit it felt like a shock up the arm....LOL. This is an impressive rod. Because of this rod I will give Abu Garcia Japan more of a look for gear.

    Regards
