The Soare Ci4+ is also better than Stradic Ci4+ (which is just as light as the Soare but does not have the micromodule unlike its aluminum cousin) for not a lot of premium. I have the very Soare you've mentioned, and I think it is a great reel for ultralight jigging.

You can find Luvias FC LT2000S at Asian Portal with free shipping (they will charge a couple of dollars worth of handling fee) for $250:

Daiwa 20 Luvias FC LT2000S - Asian Portal Fishing - Japan Brand Fishing Tackle

They restock frequently, but these reels fly off the shelves in a matter of hours or less (for example, restocked 4 last night, gone later). Check daily around 9-11 am Japan time. I have bought two from them, they ship via Fedex. Right now, they have FC LT2000S-XH and FC LT2500S.
GOT IT! I set an alarm for 8 pm (9 am Japan) and they popped up with a few in stock. Snagged one right away. Thanks for the link and the tip for timing. I really appreciate it. Excited to get my first JDM reel.

I might have found a 67 Nano, just to double check; if I hook something big on accident like a bass then I shouldn’t have too much trouble with it breaking so long as I keep the drag loose and use a net?

Also how are those handles? For such an expensive rod to not have cork messes with my head. It looks like foam, and the cheap ugly stick rods I have with foam I can’t stand the feeling of. I can’t imagine the foam would be poor quality though. Does it feel nice to handle?

I don’t know the technical name of the material, but it feels fine to me. I don’t own any Ugly Stiks, so I can’t compare. Personally, I’d like to see cork handles go away, even on fly rods.

Given how cork is becoming more rare, I agree. I can’t say for sure having handled it, but that carbon fiber handle on the Lunakia looks INSANE. The major craft and the Lunakia just look more comfortable to hold and more in touch with the blank, but I haven’t tried really nice foam handles so no idea if that’s actually true.

My dad had an old Lew’s Speed Stick (spinning) with a carbon fiber handle. I loved it! Very sensitive and comfortable.

I have not hooked anything substantial on the 67, but I doubt it will break unless mishandled. As Alphahawk mentioned several times, these rods don't really break on fish, they break when mishandled. I also think the use of Nanoalloy technology in the blank makes it quite robust. It will likely bend like crazy though, but that's part of the reason I bought it.

I love EVA handles and much prefer them to cork ones. It does feel very nice and high quality. After about 30 outings with the 77 model, I see no signs of wear on the handle. I do wash the rods and the reels after each trip as I've been only saltwater fishing lately. One quirk that I've noticed about this particular Fuji reel seat is that it tends to get unscrewed a little while fishing. Possibly due to the size of the Luvias' reel foot and not a big deal for me.

Thanks for the notes! If I’m being honest, I think those last questions were the result of “it’s a lot of money, what if I #%$ it all up”. That makes me feel much better about it.

Your post jogged my memory. I've got a spinning rod from the 70's - 80's made for Cabela's that has no handle. The graphite blank has an inset for the reel, but you hold the blank directly. I'll have to go find it and take a photo. It 's hanging in a rack in the basement along with all my other bass stuff.

I am in the same boat every time I want to buy a new JDM rod. Not being able to hold one in hand and not having the opportunity to return always give me a pause. I only have a few JDM rods so I certainly cannot give a balanced review of the 67. One more bit of information that I can provide is that both Shimano Soare SS Ajing and Tict SRAM Exr rods that I have are much faster than this Blue Current, but I knew that when I bought the 67 and I wanted that to be the case.

My Yamaga BC 71 TZ/Nano easily handled a 2 lb and a 4 lb bass while crappie fishing this morning.
