If you are looking to go light in an 8 foot rod take a look at this one. You are being redirected... It is 8' 3" and weighs in at 2.5 ounces. The Major Craft rods in 8 foot lengths will not be light.
Regards
Thank you both for the info.
My current 8ft UL rods are the Okuma Select Guide Pro Trout which weigh about 3.5oz which is fairly light. Not sure what the longer Major Craft UL or L rods weigh but switching the reel component of the setup to the new Daiwa Luvias 2000S would definitely shave some weight for sure.
I'm thinking I can improve the experience and effectiveness by switching to the lighter finesse type JDM equipment in my arsenal (already upgrading my 6ft UL equipment to JDM).

Very nice rod, a bit longer than I want though. Quality is thru the roof!

Hello All,
I am new to this forum, but have already found an incredible amount of information on JDM ultralight gear (second to none on the web, after months of research). Thank you!
I wanted to ask a technical question about buying from Plat: I'm having hard time logging in using my PayPal account. Do I have to register on their website instead? Saw that Speedstyle on sale and wanted to give it a try, despite having a Soare SS Aging 610 on the way at that moment. Any comment on using Plat would be appreciated.
Best,
s_v
You have to register on Plat.....log in on Plat....add items to your cart......click payment method....they will send you an email to pay from....usually the email will come next day.....they are old school. Digitaka used to be the same way but their payment is taken when you place your order now. A good deal on the SpeedStyle.
Regards
I like the looks of that rod, (Soare SS) especially the reel seat. Welcome to the board, and a word of caution when you get that rod in hand, you will love the sensitivity over USDM rods and be ready to order another JDM product. A slippery slope this equipment is... and expensive.

Thank you, I am looking forward to it. I have become utterly frustrated with the ultralight offerings in the domestic market, and this is coming from someone whose very first spinning combo from many years ago was based on an aluminum alloy blank...
I have been eyeing several of the soares and have almost pulled the trigger a few times... I was looking at a soare as my potential dropshot rod and went with the 7’4” Olympic Corto only because my other 2 Cortos are such a joy to fish... I almost bought the soare though... please give us your opinion of the rod once you get it... welcome by the way!
Will do. Although it is unlikely to be a balanced one – Soare SS Ajing 610SUL will be (hopefully, pending delivery) my first JDM rod and, as Stan has pointed out, my current calibration is far off.
