I have a Rockin' Power, which is supposedly 1mm fatter at the butt end, and has a slightly larger stripper (bottom) guide than the Rockin' Finesse. Absolutely agree with the above, it is my go-to rod for crappie and bream casting plastics and hand-ties.

Okay my rod order from China got screwed up twice, first they sent the wrong rod, then another rod has been hold at PO/Custom (seller info). Time for me to look elsewhere. First I want kind of budget type, will be pair with Tatula LT 2000, and purpose would be to cast 1/32oz trout magnet at least 50’.
will I be happy with bass action rod Majorcraft speedstyle S63UL? Or I should look into Troutino or Finetail instead? UL or SUL?
    Thanks.

Get the Finetail Area Stage would be my advice. I have the 6'3 version and I LOVE that rod...will buy another one this spring. I also have a high end Tenryu rod that is crazy good but it's close to a $400 rod. I bought it used from a member here...don't think I could pull the trigger on a $400 rod!!

The Major Craft rods are excellent. Randy will chime in with better thoughts.

Plat has the Speed Style on sale.....my son has one on the way. The new Fine Tail will in all likelihood give you better casting distance and it will sure give you a lot more fun. The new Fine Tail is extremely sensitive. I have a ML Speed Style......I have only used it once in 3 years. The Speed Style will be more rigid than the Fine Tail. It is also considerably heavier in weight than the Fine Tail.....the Fine Tail is a full ounce lighter in weight. The Nano blank on the Speed Style makes it a very robust rod. If it was me I would go with the Fine Tail.

Been lurking here a bit, I'm primarily a trout fisherman and mostly throw my own custom jigs.

Randy's video reviews on the newer 2018 Finetail series really perked my interest so based on his advice I ordered a new MC FAX 632L model (weighs 1.9oz) for less than $160 shipped. I was set on a Fenwick River Runner or St. Croix Avid but the reviews on these rods won me over. The MC Finetail Fax series are extremely light and were revamped in 2018 due to complaints they were too soft. Anyhow I target large river trout 16"+ so the 632L got the nod. I don't think this will be my last one, I plan to purchase one of the shorter Finetails for fishing creek trout. I also ordered a Leland Trout Slayer rod as a back up rod for when I pack into high country alpine lakes.

I agree ... the major craft rod is fantastic. I paired with a shimano soare size 500 and the whole combo is as light as a feather. This is my main crappie and big river trout rod. I own one if the shorter fine tail for stream fishing and it casts light lures like bullets. Been impressed with major craft so far ...

Thanks, I wish your son already have the rod and can tell me power and action of this. I ordered from the same place just waiting to confirm shipping cost.
I considered this rod because of its solid tip and SUL rated (1/64-3/16oz). The rod considered as bass rod with more backbone which is more in my area of fishing, even this rod will be used for crappie/bluegill but I got hit with 2-3lb bass quite often.

Just_Bass is this the rod you are looking at? MAJOR CRAFT SpeedStyle SSS-642UL Spinning... I have yet to fish with it but just got it from Plat... seems to be a really nice rod for the money and I am going to use it in the river to target redbreast, redeye, and smallies... it has some fun factor to it but seems like it would handle a big fish as well

The rod at that price is a good value. I had the precursor rod to the Speed Style....the 6’ 8” Volkey with the solid tip rated 1/64 to 1/4. I used this rod to drop shot for bluegill in 30 feet of water. Even though it was L rated it was still fun. I also got into a lot of Smallies doing that and was glad the rod had the backbone.

Any idea what the shipping from Plat would run on that SpeedStyle that's on sale? I've ordered a bunch of stuff from Digitaka at this point but have not ordered from Plat yet. Wasn't sure how the shipping cost actually worked with them
