Well ordered my first JDM rod out of Japan. Still just sticking my toe in and not getting crazy on the higher end stuff, my budget sort of likes the bang for the buck level honestly!

I ordered a Major Craft TCX S732AJI as those here much more in the know have stated that Major Craft for the dollars spent gave a good value in the rod purchased for the dollars spent.

The rod does have Fuji Sic S, K guides and a Fuji VSS reel seat but I do not know what the carbon content of the rod may be nor exactly where it is made although China I would expect but the rod shipped to my door is only about 140.00.

I will use this rod mainly for small to smaller medium slow moving rivers fishing for gills and smaller smallmouth bass as the targeted prey. Hopefully I made a wise choice on my purchase.

My intentions are later in the winter to order a JDM preferably made in Japan shallow spool reel either of a 1000-2000 size which ever I think will work the best to balance the rod.

Thanks for those that share the information that they do so others such as myself can have a better understanding of what is available and what applications each category works for the best!

Looking forward to the rod arriving in the next week or so.

    Happy Holidays for all!

Congrats on your purchase....you have a very fine rod coming. It is made in Vietnam. It weighs 2.6 ounces. Major Craft does not list carbon content of their rods....but I can tell you it is pretty good. If you could buy a rod like that here in the USA off the shelf it would run you over 200 bucks. In my videos I state Major Craft is great rod for the money. I currently own 7 rods by Major Craft......I have given 4 others to my son. My son is ordering a Triple Cross 68 Ajing rod this week. I think you are going to really enjoy the rod.

Thanks for the additional information, I do like knowing as much about a product as possible.

I will say one thing, that years ago an American based and owned manufacturing company I worked for was getting involved in securing a contract to manufacture a product to be sold in Japan. The plant that I worked at was one of the most advanced at the process of making this product in the world bar none and the quality control specs that the Japanese were demanding plain could not be met on a totally consistent basis so the company I worked for abandoned the idea of the contract producing that product for the Japanese company and market.

The reason that I bring that up is I know first hand from that experience is that Japanese companies are very hands on involved and demand very high standards concerning what they want from a quality control standpoint and in many cases they actually have their own QC people on site running their own checks in addition to those done by the manufacturer.

For that reason I have less of a concern of the product for a Japaneses company being produced in another country other than Japan. I know that some companies closer to home that choose to manufacture in another country by the products they put on the shelf do not put that same effort into the QC process unfortunately.

Thanks again Alpha for the time you take sharing with us, I do not think I have missed any of your videos!

Thanks, enjoyed the review.Saw the ripping lips post(forgot his name)about a two piece soare bb you recommended, checked with Plat but was trying to check on Nissin. Are they good quality also?I noticed they make a lot of the long reelless rods(forgot name). The soare bb was made in China and if getting one would like to have made in Japan? If you don’t mind could you direct me toward a good crappie rod or two?dont want to go too high on first one if that makes sense. Thanks in advance and thanks for all the info!

Well first let me say just because a JDM rod is made in China....or some other country out of Japan does not mean it is not quality. I’ve got several high end rods made in Vietnam......China. Now Major Craft......Tict......and many others do not put where they are made on the rod. If it does not say “Made in Japan” on the rod it is not made in Japan. But all of those rods are made with Japanese components...including blanks.....and pass a very strict QC. Shoot....even the jig heads I buy are assembled in China out of Japanese components. Nissin makes a good rod....but if you are wanting a good crappie rod for casting the Soare BB would be better in my opinion. As for getting a rod actually “Made in Japan” they are not cheap.....but all the high end rods no matter the country they are made in are expensive. You are looking at a minimum of around 300 bucks to get an actual “Made in Japan” rod. The Major Craft Triple Cross is a lot of rod for the money. What size are you wanting?

All my videos are on YouTube. Digitaka has free shipping on all reels. As of yet I have never found any site that sells reels as cheap as they do. They also have free shipping on a lot of the rods they sell also.
