I have a lot of good info on buying JDM gear on my youtube channel. As I have said many times buying JDM gear off of ebay you will pay a much higher price. Very rarely will you find high end rods as cheap as you can get them from Japanese web stores. That goes for reels also. First place I check when wanting something is Digitaka...then Plat...then Global Rakuten...then if I can't find it I start doing searches. I have only bought one rod off of ebay in the years I have been doing this and that was because it was the only place I could get it....but I was fortunate the price was the same it would have been on Digitaka...but that is rare. I still am in amazement that I was able to purchase 6 Ballistic FW reels off of ebay at an unheard of price....that deal was simply an anomaly. Here is an example. The cheapest Tict Rockin Finesse rod on ebay right now that I can find is $342...then many sellers wanting $400 or more. Digitaka has it for $279. It is out of stock right now but it will be back in stock and I would check the site everyday...Tict Ice Cube rods are very popular.

I get a lot of JDM gear from fishing-otsuka.jp they have a few websites (same global store) that specializes in Bass, Trout, Saltwater and general fishing equipment. They always been reliable with communication and timely shipping. The trout website is especially appealing to me because they offer many brands of lures and models that are to find.

I dealt with them several years back. There was one gentleman I always dealt with but his parents became ill and he sent out emails letting us know he had to take care of them and would no longer be at the shop. He was a go getter. I met him through Facebook. The trout shop is what attracted me there also.

Got the tict finnese rod on order from digitaka. I'm a bit worried about the 2.5lb line rating. I'll have to do some research on lines for jdm rods next. I'm normally a 6lb kind of guy, mostly due to fishing near brush. Might have to rethink the area's I use this rod, or buy bigger packs of jigs

The most expensive rod I own is the Rayz Alter 6'2 SUL model made by Tenryu. It is a Japanese made rod and impeccable would be the correct word used to describe this rod. I bought it used from a member on this site...I'm sure this rod would be pushing $400 brand new.

I also have a Majorcraft Finetail area stage 6'2 SUL that is an awesome rod. In comparing the two, I'm confident the Tenryu Rayz Alter is the superior rod...however, the Majorcraft is a fantastic rod that is MUCH cheaper, and frankly, I don't know if it's worth the extra money for the Tenryu.

This is where I struggle with these JDM products. Do I really want to spring for the $400 level rod, or am I happy with what I consider a fantastic fishing rod at $175-$200. I think I probably will buy the TICT Ice cube, just not sure if I want the Finesse or Drift model.

It's all a very interesting conversation if you ask me.

Check out the JDM line sticky, lots of good info there as well. Trying new lines is fun and frustrating at the same time. Remember that JDM lines break at pretty much where they are advertised. A good drag and forgiving rod along with just plain old experience will help guide you to the right combination. Seat time with the light lines is imperative, get out and put them through your normal routine and conditions as much as possible to learn the limitations.
