D10 at one time I was looking at a rod made by favorite called the “blue bird.” I really can’t recall what lead me to look at them??? Not sure why I never pulled the trigger. Neat looking rod
Glad to see you out with your dad. The 6.10 Corto feels like a feather compared to all the other JDM rods. Now that you have both 6.1 and 6.10 and have some seat time on them which do you prefer for the Trout?

Stan the 6’1” has more flex to it and I use it on the smaller streams. It is a great rod with incredible feel. I was really worried about the 6’10” being to stiff but my intentions the whole time for the 6’10” was to use it in the larger rivers where 25 inch plus trout are fairly common. It actually ended up being great for the smaller brookies and had a nice feel to it. I feel confident I could land a fish of a lifetime on it with the 2lb sos. I am really happy with both of them and was thinking about picking up another rod to ultra light fish at the beach... I never catch huge fish when there... mostly flounder 12 to 20 inches and the occasional redfish in the mid 20 range... I am sure the corto would work but worried I might hook something huge and snap it... any ideas?

I think the salty fare might give the 6.10 Corto a fit. My concern would be the line/ leader as those Right Coast Critters usually have teeth Maybe Alphahawk could recommend an Ocean UL rod. A Tubular Tip rod might work well. On another forum I noticed a guy talking about UL fishing in the bays and inland salt areas. Cant remember what he was using.

Some use UL in the ocean. As to snapping the rod.....maybe. I have been in a situation when fishing a JDM rod and hooked a big striper....as the fish was pulling off line at a rate I knew I had no chance I would just point the rod at the position the line was headed, and keeping the rod straight, grab the spool and the line would snap. But I would rather not be in that situation. I fished salt water for 21 years straight but that has been almost 20 years since I did it and have been out of the loop on salt water. I do know a couple of guys in the Trout Magnet Users Group who when they go to Florida they use the UL for flounder.

I have heard of guys using UL in saltwater and doing very well. I would happily do it if I lived close to the surf.
If you happen to hook something BIG and think your tackle might not be able to handle the stress, point the rod directly at the fish (no bend at all), and let him break the line. Better the line than a $300 rod.

Ajing rods and Mebaru rods, all of 'em, ARE salt water rods! They're just intended for small salt water fish (roughly 10" and under). Just make sure that the line you use doesn't exceed the manufacturer's recommendation (for actual breaking strength, not what gets printed on the box here in the US). Plus, and most important, if you hook a fish that is clearly larger than the rod was intended for, don't try to be a hero. As Alphahawk and deathb4disco recommended, point the rod directly at the fish and grab the spool.
Very happy to report the replacement top section for my Tict IC-69P-Sis has finally shipped! Happy!
I will be taking very good care of this one, as I don't want to repeat an expensive mistake, no.

VCM - "was looking at a rod made by favorite called the “blue bird.”" - I have two 6'10" and using them right now for casting Autos. Grips are a little large but comfortable. Cast 2lb really well, sensitive tip (solid), + lots of backbone.

LedHed where did you get yours if you don’t mind me asking? Think I could toss 2 to 3 inch plastics for flounder with it?
