dbd - there are some inexpensive entry level rods that won't break the bank.
    Pro Marine, light ace - AJIMEBARU 70L ($46 + 22 for shipping), 2-8lb
SVR, Light Salt Game - MEBARU 732UL ($58 + 24 for shipping) - I really like this carbon rod - rated for 1-5lb.
OGK Japan, Mebajing - 662LS ($87 + free shipping) 2-6lb - another excellent rod for the money
Not the real deal but they are lots of fun. Have a few more in this range. All these rods weigh a little more than 3 ozs.

Picked up some collapsible models for a trip to the Azores in June - going to do some rockfishing...

Maybe next year. I bought two new fly rods this year and still need to get a reel and line for each.

Since there seems to be more interest in JDM rods, I thought I'd make this a sticky thread.

I will leave it open, so feel free to post questions/comments about JDM rods.
Thanks jackie53 thanked you for this post

Do these rods come with any warranty? Warranty is why on more expensive rods I by St Croix .
On other rods I try to stay under $100 so it doesn’t hurt so bad when one breaks . Gillchaser

Yes they come with a warranty......but.......I have explained it many times in videos and elsewhere. You have to get it back to Japan so it is not feasible to do it. Plus the warranty form is in Japanese should you decide to fill it in and return......I have no current friends who read Japanese. If warranty is important to someone they don’t need to be purchasing gear out of Japan. Although a few I have read about have sent high dollar reels back and they have taken care of it. I’ve broke two JDM rods and have replaced the top section.....both were 2 piece rods.

    Regards
