I had an email exchange between the folks from the Australian site that I linked last week in this thread and got some disappointing info.

In that email exchange, the person told me it would be $140 AU to ship the rod to the states. To verify, I went to the page and added the rod to cart and got to the PayPal screen, and never saw anything about $140 AU shipping charge. If I had attempted to place order, I’m not sure if PayPal would have allowed it or if I would have received a followup invoice from them.

Be careful if you use that site. I wouldn’t want anyone to get a surprise charge after ordering. My sincere apologies and I didn’t mean to mislead anyone.

So to avoid any hassle, I decided to order off of eBay. Paid slightly more as eBay charges sales tax here in TX.

    Cheers

Did you get the Slow Taper or the standard taper? I have the ERFS-610LS-TZ and really like it. I do not have the Rockin Finesse, been debating it at the current price, but do have the 6.10 Graphiteleader Corto to compare with the ABU. When shaking both rods side by side with no reel or line attached the ABU is softer and a little more whippier than the Corto, and the ABU bends much further down the blank when under load from a fish. The 10 guides on the ABU and the reel seat make this softer hybrid type rod a bit more sensitive than the similar length Corto and definitely ups the fun factor on the smaller fish. You will like the ABU I think which ever model you chose, I went out on a limb when I got mine and do not regret the purchase at all. Make sure to get pics of the new arrival!

I got the 6’7” Slow Taper SUL as I wanted to maintain the fun factor when catching smaller to medium size bream. That’s what ended up being the main deciding factor for me.

I may eventually get a 6’9” or 6’10” rod, but I wanted to go in the SUL direction for now.

You will have fun that’s for sure... Congrats! I will say this about the Tict Rockin Finesse it is by no means stiff and offers a lot of fun on smaller fish as well but does have some backbone mid ways... Two very fun rods for sure

Majorcraft Rod brand temporarily removed from Digitaka? Maybe a listing change? Keeping an eye out for sale?

Well, it looks like Digitaka has decided that they are in for a long haul with courier services as the only way to ship products. All long and one-piece rods now incur 6,000 JPY "oversize charge". I think that's the reason the website was down for some time yesterday. PLAT has not done that yet, it only adds a reasonable (in comparison with Digitaka's new policy) "handling" charge. JPAngler is OK, too, their shipping charges for long and one-piece rods are still reasonable. Is this a sign of times and are we going to lose free shipping at some point soon unless EMS is back?

Probably so, or the price will simply reflect higher shipping costs until commercial air traffic increases substantially.

    Alphahawk,

You've had a lot of JDM ultralights, from what I gather. Have you sold any of those? If yes, did you find it challenging to find interested buyers? I understand this is a loaded question, I am just curios if you can share any relevant experience.

I’ve sold several rods. At one time I told myself I would never sell any but realized if I wanted to continue to purchase I had to get rid of some every now and then. I haven’t had any trouble selling. All of my sales have been reasonably local. I strongly dislike having to ship a rod.....but I’ll do it. Just last week I decided to let the Corto go. Put the feelers out and met up with a guy the next day.

    Regards

The Abu Garcia rod I ordered from Australia has made it to the US... sitting in San Francisco. Hopefully it’s just a few more days.
