I've submitted warranty claims for years now (probably 8 years for tenkara rods and 2 years for spinning/baitcasting) and the manufacturer has never refused to honor the warranty. I am sure they know that warranty claims are almost always operator error (including the error of thinking rods "ought to be" able to do things they weren't designed to do). They get honored anyway. However, the manufacturer's financial exposure is limited because the warranty is one-year rather than lifetime, and can be used only once.

Well pulled the trigger on the Olympic '18 CORTO GCRTS-6102L-HS that Alpha had reviewed earlier as I was looking for a rod that I thought would make a worthy home for the Diawa Exist reel I picked up during the black Friday sales.

This will probably be my last JDM purchase for a while as I have several new JDM toys to test out and play with this coming spring.

Want to thank Alpha for the what he does as far as helping to educate us on this equipment here in a market where it is not well known or advertised very much.

I also want to curse him as his salesmanship has helped lighten my wallet significantly as well! JUST KIDDING!

Looking forward to the new rods arrival though.

Thanks for the comment. Congrats......that will be one sweet setup. You know when I started the channel on YouTube I just wanted to help one guy who may go down that road. While it is a very small channel I never dreamed I would help out the number of people who wanted some JDM gear. Many from right here on crappie.com. It seems each week there are several now who contact me. I think you will really like the Corto. Graphiteleader really makes a fantastic rod. I used mine today to try and catch some white bass but the fish did not cooperate. I got 2 hits and stuck both fish.....one a 6 pound drum and the other about a 5 inch white bass. What amazes me about the rod....sensitivity not withstanding....is the fact the drum put a nice parabolic bend in the rod...yet so did the 5 inch fish. Amazing a rod that rigid can do that.

    Regards

Congratulations on the new rod. I have been field testing mine at the local creeks and fishing off the bank in the afternoons. Alphahawk’s statement about not wanting to put the rod down is correct. He may have gotten that from the California Bluegill guru but nonetheless my St Croix has not been off the rack since. Lightweight and Sensitive are the two words that can describe the JDM rods, but feeling the head shake and tail thrust during the fight of a fish that is 4-9in long is what impresses me. The bigger fish on these rods still worry me with the drag and line capabilities, something that I am sure will come with practice and seat time. When that rod comes in let’s see a picture of the setup, at a little over 200g it should be a dream to fish with.

    Triple Cross TCX-S632AJI

What kind of action will this rod have?

I'll be casting 1/80 to 1/16 oz jig heads with either 2 or 4# line.

It is a very rigid rod with extra fast action....sensitivity off the charts. If you have never picked up an Ajing rod it is like nothing at all you will find here in the USA. With the solid tip great for casting light jigs.....micro plastics. Casting a 1/80 with that rod would be a stretch...bottom rating is 1/48.....top end is 1/3 ounce...but I wouldn’t want to use 1/3 with it. The tip on that rod will be around 7/10 of a millimeter in diameter. A great little rod in my opinion.

I'll probably use 1/32 oz mostly this year.

There are a lot of rods that would work for you. If you haven’t already, I suggest reading the very first post in the thread. It will give you some good ideas on what to look for.

Here you go.......Corto Prototype.....Made in Japan..... Nuovo CORTO PROTOTYPE – OLYMPIC Co., Ltd.
You have 3 models at 6’ 1” to choose from....tubular tip or solid....light action or ultra light action. A true work of superior quality.
Another great choice....albeit at 6’ 3” is the 2018 Lunakia from TenRyu. Crappie.com member Chris Stewart sells this rod at https://www.finesse-fishing.com/fine...ning-rods.html
It is the rod second up from bottom of page. Another impeccably built rod Made in Japan. Both in price range you quoted and if you truly want to keep it under 500 bucks I don’t think there is a rod priced between these two that is better. In other words I don’t know of a 500 dollar rod that would be better. You could also get a Blue Current TZ Nano at the 6’ 2” mark....also Made in Japan. All fantastic rods and you would not go wrong with any of them.....but the superior rod in this list is the Corto Prototype.

    Regards
