    First time I caught a Green sunfish (way before the internet) I thought it was a hybrid cross between a largemouth bass and a sunny

    And a Pumpkinseed that big would be a trophy. Shellcrackers can go up in 2 to 5 Lb range which would be a world record for a Pumpkinseed.(1lb 6oz) vs Shellcracker 5lbs 8 oz (Az) shared with the SC record of 5lbs 7 oz)

    thats a shellcracker and they don't always have red on the ear flap, matter of fact where I fish I hardly ever see a red earflap.
