It's not. That's an old wives' tale. If anything, it helps fishing, especially if the pond didn't have a bloom beforehand. Decreased visibility means the fish are less spooky and will bite better.

I've caught fish from a fertilized pond many times and never detected a change in taste. Considering how minutely the fertilizer gets dissipated throughout the water column, I doubt one could detect it if one tried.

you are probably right . the state lakes in our area are so green you can't see through it . may not change the taste but don't catch much either . fished 3-4 hrs. last yr. at trace lake without a keeper on a "black gnat. "Have seen other post about it doesn't effect the fishing . Maybe I don't know what I am doing .

Has this lake produced for you prior to the fertilization? Or does it just not have a good population of fish? Just asking...
