Welcome tootall. I don't think i've seen the rod you described but the stores are full of relatively good poles for kids. Trust me, she'll be happy with anything dad gets her to fish with. Buy two cheap ones, the first might end up with the fishies. My first daughters did, hehe. Value your time with her, blink your eyes and they're all grown up...izzy

I agree with izzy. Buy two, as I will for my 4 year old granddaughter. It would hurt me too much to see her tears and I want her time fishing with me an enjoyable experience. There used to a product called Aqua Triever that would be attached to your rod and if dropped in the lake, it would release a float with a 80' lifeline. I don't think it is sold any more.

Bass Pro Shop has some foam rod savers that you can buy in a 3 pack. I got some to put on my son's rods. He is 4 going on 5. So far they have worked. As far as the rod goes, just get a good one not one that you would not use. I go for the ugly stick for kids esp. since they have got to take a beating.

Thanks guy's, I have went thru a few of the "snoopy" poles. She is 4 and loves to fish that's why I was looking for a good one. I will have to check out the ugly stick , wanted one that was short enough for her. (dont want a hook in my ear haha )

I got my son a 4' 6" underspin from wally world. It is a great little rod. I beleive it is a Shakespere or Diawa. I use it some when he get bored or untill I catch a fish then it is his again.LOL But well probably look into a ugly stick lite. I like cork handle and that one has that type also it look more like "Daddy's rod" which is what he really wants. Good luck on the rod. Oh the tackle box is a great extra to get them makes them feel more like a big person carring it or at least my little one thinks so.

Just take her fishing. You can let her use one of yours. You wont be fishing anyways at first. Dont forget the camera and the what's that? tape recorder. Be ready for lots of questions.

I was at K MART today just looking And I found several fishing poles for kids. They have Disney characters, plus they float.
