Well....It used to be Lake Lamar Bruce but they have closed it and drained it to re-build the dam. The next best spot that I know of is Tippah Lake in Tippah County.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

I can vouch for Tippah County lake. Lots of large shellcrackers and bluegill too. They'll be spawning on the inside weed edge in the next few weeks. Went to Cox lake last year for an hour and my wife caught a good one, but then we were driven off by a storm and I haven't been back. Caught quite a few shellcrackers in a visit to Wall Doxey last year. None were big like your picture, but I did catch a 10" bluegill, so I suspect the redears can get large there too. Trace lake seems to be the place with the reputation, but I haven't tried it yet.
