Question Fishing at Stanley Draper and Overholser Lakes

    Hello Everybody,

Please advise me where to find good fishing spots at the Draper and Overholser lakes. I am new to OKC area and love to fishing. I went to Draper Lake fishing at Pier #6 a couple weeks ago. I didn't get a single bite for an hour. I used minnow, jigs and shad, but still didn't get anything. After that, I moved to Pier #4. Same thing, no bite. I heard that Pier #19 or 23 has more fish there. Is this true?

Also, I went to Overholser's dam last week and saw lots of people fishing at the dam (behind the dam where the water is flowing into a canal). Is this a good spot to fish. What can you catch?

Thanks in advance for any tips that you can provide

I'm going to Draper later this morning and will let you know how it goes. Went twice about 3 weeks ago and never left #23. Best time was 7-9 pm. Thursdays plan is Tbird will also post how that goes.

Ended up at Draper both days. Fished 23 Wed. did fair, caught a few (715pm-930). Decided to try 19 Thurs. evening (6pm-5mins before the sky opened up and dumped copious loads of rain!! which was about 845). Don't know if it was the weather or not but based on tonight I will fish 19 from now on!! We started catching them as soon as the first line hit the water and stayed that way until we packed up just before the rains came.

    Boat 49,

Thank you for the fishing report. What did you catch? Was the road very muddy?

Stick: Minnows and since I forgot my portable fishfinder, not exact on the depth, but I was dropping to the bottom then slowly coming up. I would say over half of what I caught was within 5ft from the bottom.
PO: All crappie except for 2 small bass and the roads weren't bad at all but I'm positive they got real bad right after we left!! As soon as I turned North on Stanley Draper Drive? it started raining so hard I could barely see and this lasted all the way until about Crossroads mall. I and everyone else were going about 20 mph on 240.

Mowed (finally) the back and convinced myself it was still to wet to mow the front so I made a call to the female fishing machine I let tag along sometimes and we decided to head to Draper after she got off work. Hit it about 645 left at 845 and we had caught over 50. Light breeze, very comfortable great evening...nothing big most in the 6-8 in range but alot of fun....point 19 I was using minnows she caught some on her famous pink jig.

Went out to Drapper today to point 19 and caught 3 crappie on jigs one on red head black body white tail and two on pink head white body and tail. The red head caught 4 ten inch bass. Just out playing around had a good time, but work interupted the fun.The crappie were 10 to 12 inches long no basket or stringer so I let them go.

    Default Point 19

you and others mentioned point 19...have any of y’all fished the dock just to the east of it? If so, info about it would be great. I’m trying to have a positive experience for my kids in hopes of getting them hooked. Thank you!
