Default Fish Kill Altus Lugert Lake

Lake has had a massive fish kill once again. Ryan Ryswyk fisheries supervisor has said another golden algae kill has taken place. Some of the locals have reported it is much worse than the last time and they have not been able to find any kind of fish on their electronics. I was looking forward to such a good season this year. On to a better report Tom Steed lake although very low just had the walleye spawn I think because Saturday the fish I caught were in 2 to 3 feet of water and it was a full moon and they were big and healthy. Back to the fish kill I wish Wildlife Dept would mention these fish kills in their fishing reports this one started a week or two ago.

Hello World it's Mikie and "I am so confused"! Back in March I posted about a fish kill at Lake Altus Lugert. I was told by fishery biologist and others that the kill was massive and all fish were gone. Well now I am being told by various people some I believe and some I might not that people are catching channel cats; crappie and even walleye at the lake. My question is does anyone know anyone with the state or who lives near the lake or works at the lake that can tell me if there are catchable fish at Lake Altus Lugert ?

I guess slow could mean there aren't many left or they just aren't biting. I would like the state to do a shocking, or a gill net survey to see what condition the lake is in at this time

Did they originally say what caused the fish kill?

Reason for kill was noted in my first post. I have talked to several people who said there are a lot of carp and channel catfish in the lake and the catfish are being caught at all depths and from the shore. The latest fishing report from the Game Ranger says Channel catfish are slow.
