    Default Feeding fish

Our pond is small- less than two acres. Greatest depth is 12 feet.

Last fall 200 bass, 200 blue gill, 200 catfish and 10 pounds of fat head minnow were put in the pond.

We have white crappie in the pond. "Bucket transplant" We have been aggressively fishing and removing the crappie. Over 40 crappie were known to have been removed since yesterday. The crappie are thin and small, average length up to 7 inches. They are spawning.

Few bass or blue gill are reported being caught in the pond. Bass being reported caught occasionally, Blue gill seldom. no bait fish are seen. Catfish are caught once in a while. Most everyone reports catching crappie and nothing else.

Water temperature has been over 60 degrees for 10 days.

I started feeding a 32% floating food 7 days ago. Day three I thought I saw a fish feed twice. I have not seen an other sign of fish feeding. I have been feeding every day at the same time. I feed about 6 ounces of feed each session.

How long should I continue to feed with out sign of feeding?

Anything else I can do to provoke feeding?

6 ounces of food feed today, drifted of into the weeds on the bank. No signs of any feeding activity after 8 days of feeding.

I am about ready to give up on this pond.

    Just thinking...that's dangerous.

Across the pond there are a bunch tree limbs-structure in the pond. They are catching fish over there. Father and son had 32 crappie on a stringer for 2 hours work, when I looked and they were still catching fish when I left.

Where I am feeding, there is no structure, just mossy weeds. I wonder if it would help If I put structure in?

sounds as if the Crappie population could be stunted. If not, I'd add cover to the pond so they'd be able to hide and grow up.

Yes they are stunted. The are in a to small pond.

Best scenario is the are eradicated from this pond.

We made a large pvc ring and feed in that.
    8’ diameter.
Just glued 3 8’ sticks of pvc together. It floats on top of water.
    Guessing 1” pvc

I have been feeding for 2 weeks and no sign of fish feeding. I stopped feeding. The pond temperature has dropped to 58 degrees.
