BTT, Anyone?
I am researching the idea of picking up one of these little 10 foot plastic pontoon boats for fishing Liberty Lake, and Eufaula once in a while. I also need something for setting a turtle trap in Millers pond.
The two under consideration are the Pelican Bass Raider 10 and the Bass Hunter EX.
It will be wife and fishing and perhaps Granddaughter and I once in a while.
Does anyone have experience with either boat and can share pros and cons?
Any suggestions on were to buy in OKC area, new or used?
I don’t know anything about them, so I am of no help.

Think I can help you. For many years myself and several others fished out of those boats. We had bass buster brand. The reason we used these we were all pretty big fellas and the sides were taller than other brands therefore more stable. Pay close attention to the boats weight limit. It doesn’t take long to max that out with 2 people and gear along with a battery for the trolling motor. The longer and taller sides are much more stable and safer. We always ran the trolling motor from the front and the battery in the back. Get a good trolling motor that has an extended reach handle and is power conservative. Some of the best trips we ever had was in those boats. Good luck

I have the pelican 10 and it is an outstanding boat to fish out of! I have filled it up with bass and BG from a private lake my wife at time owned. they get around well and are easy to modify. saw one where guy put plywood up front and had a regular boat seat there and platform to stand up and fish from. Have seen them used with a 5 hp gas motor on bigger lakes and they did just fine for not going too far to place to fish. On a smaller lake they are outstanding. on our we had beavers and they loved to knaw on it as we didn't live there but came up short drive from city to stay and somehow water got in everytime I take it out and you have to raise it up and drain water out of it, which is a pain but doesn't keep it from floating.
Well, I trip over a guy on FB hinting he needed to sell one. Man these are hot properties. Now figure out what to do with it.
Check your states regs on boat registration. There are lots of states that require full registration of boats if they have just a trolling motor attached to them. If that is the case in your state, then you might as well get something more versatile and safer.
Bass hunter EX
It’s made out of polyethylene. It will never crack. The Pelican is ramX whatever that is. It’ll get brittle from the sun.
My dad and I both use a bass hunter during spawn.

Thanks for that, it was a question I had when I was looking. When I bought the boat it was registered here in OK.
One thing I noticed looking over the OK boat regs, when I operate this boat with a gas motor, I need a fire extinguisher. That is something I hadn't considered.
you are only using it probably on your HOA so I wouldnt be concerned about an extinguisher
