    Default Broken Bow Recommendations

Planning to visit Broken Bow next week to do some fishing with the family. I’ve never fished the lake and am hoping to get a few recommendations on where to fish and what bait to use. From other posts, it looks like the lake has very clear water, something we don’t have where I live. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I have fished it, yes it is really clear.
If I was going back there. I’d hire a guide one morning to get some good advice.
I wish I had coordinates... to offer but I’ve only been there once.
We ended up going to pine creek, which we are more familiar with. It’s close and has some nice fish.

Fished the lake Sept 10-14. Found crappie up in Otter Creek and Bear Creek. I just looked for submerged timber that was holding fish. Cedars to be the best this trip. Crappie were from 15-25' deep. I tried every jig under the sun it seemed, being it plastic or hair and on;y caught 1. Minnows were the best bet. you had to really watch your line because they never hit it they just lifted up on the the bait. Would get about 1 1/2" of slack in the line and that when you better be setting the hook. Water temp 85 on first 2 days then down to 83 by end of trip. With these cooler nights and days the bite should pick up even more.

The lake was 6' below normal about 5 days before I left to head down and came up to 6' above in 3 days. 12' swing which I'm sure slowed the bite as well. Lake started falling while I was there to the tone of about 2.5'. Only fished from 7am - noon and 4pm - 7pm each day. Bite wasn't great, but cleaned about 7 fish per outing.

If your willing to work hard in finding them you'll catch some fish. Now in another note the smaller bass are a dime a dozen.
