    Default Lake Carl Blackwell

Hi everyone, new to this forum. Just curious if this is a good time of year to fish lake Carl Blackwell? Still trying to learn Crappie fishing, I’m used to a completely different style of fishing but now live in this area and need to learn new techniques. I do have a boat. Thanks

It seems like 3-4 weeks ago it was doing good.
    I have no current data.
You might as well go give it a try, and then post us a report.

I fished LCB a couple times over the past few weeks from my boat. I did so good, the next time out I drove another 30 miles and went to Kaw. . I don’t know what it is about Carl Blackwell & me, but we just ain’t figured each other out yet.

Thanks for the replies. I have not had a chance to go yet, between work and the weather, not been much of an opportunity for me. SwollenCrappie gave me a few pointers, When I do get a chance to go I will definitely post a fishing report here. I would be interested in learning about Kaw too. Is that a decent Crappie lake? I just have a lot to learn. Thx all

edit: I just read the Kaw Lake thread, looks like it is a great crappie lake, maybe I can make it up there someday.

FWIW, I was there today. Brought home 7 over 9”, biggest fish were 11”. Threw back a bunch of short fish. Caught most of mine on a 2” monkey milk on a 1/16oz pink jighead tipped with a small minnow. The bite wasn’t real aggressive, they were just kind of mouthing the bait. From talking with some of the regulars, it sounds like there’s been some brush added within the last week, so maybe the fishing will pick up.

Fished Carl Blackwell from the dock Saturday. Caught 60 or so but only 3 were keepers. One gentleman gave 5 of his and I gave what i had in my bucket to Charles Jones (the one who makes punch bait for catfish) when I left. I haven't fished for 3 weeks and I couldn't help but have a smile on my face the whole time even though 6-7 inch fish were everywhere.

Fished it a couple of days ago. Got 6 keepers to 11" and 35 dinks. My wife's purple yarn/pink marabou worked best. All of the keepers were totally stuffed with shad.

thanks to Bigskyfisherman for showing me places to fish Lake CB.
I had a great time and Bigskyfisherman caught about 25 to my 1 (one).

It was good to meet another crappie fisherman.

    thanks again.

Crappie.com has provided me with another fishing friend. B_man was expecting me to get him on the fish, but after he only got one, I'm not sure that he will not be looking for a better guide next time out. And B did listen to all my stories without complaining about his ears hurting. BTW, it was 25-1, but 24 of mine were dinks. Some of the people with minners did better, sizewise.
