    Default Lake Carl Blackwell

Had my good friend Neil Molina in the boat with me this past friday to try and catch him a few crappie. Our trip turned out to be a good one. We found some good fish in 20' of water fishing 14-18' down. Almost every keeper fish we caught was either spitting shad up on the deck or in the livewell. Last 3 trips out the fish have been feeding heavy on shad and at times looks like their bellies are going to explode. We found fish in 20' of water in several stops but only one spot were they stacked up in a decent sized group. Other spots they were more scattered. Fish were all near structure. Not really in it, just had to have structure close by. Hair jigs and 2" tubes were the baits of choice that day. Was a great day to be on the water with warmer temps and little to no wind the whole time we were in the boat. Finished the trip with 35 keeper crappie. We have to do some work on that 6 fish hold.

Josh, Take me out again because I can use the practice on the 6 finger fish hold. LOL. I mean Ranger 09 has lots of practice and he spread those fish out like a champ.

For those who fish the dock it has been pretty slow. You can catch a few here and there. I kept 20 Saturday fished from 1-5:30

Great report, thanks Josh. I keep saying I’m gonna get the boat out there, and you’re definitely motivating me!

Nice catch. Can you give me a water temp for BW? Thanx, may give the hybrids a try in this great weather. 😎👍
